I have held many jobs in my life and struggled for many years to find what I really wanted as my career. Several times I felt that I would never discover what my calling was. Some people find it early in life and others not until after they retire. It's similar to finding your perfect mate. You have to know what you want, what you're willing to compromise on, and know when it's time to move on.
I've had a few moments lately where I've realized I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be and where I want to be. I may not have a large house or fancy clothes right now, but I have everything I need. I have a wonderful, loving, and healthy family (including my loyal dogs); great friends; and a career that I not only love but am passionate about. I have a career that has positively changed my life and allows me to assist others in positively changing their lives.
Many of us are living the dream without even realizing it. It just depends on our perspective. No, I didn't buy those cute shoes today that I wanted, but I got to snuggle (we call it "nuggle") with my daughter at nap time, nose to nose while she put her tiny, soft hands gently on my cheeks as she fell asleep. I'll take that any day over shoes!
